Personal Statement
Moving to Germany at 12 years old changed my life. My love of basketball and foundation with the game helped me to feel at home and adapt to my new life quickly and adapt to my new life in a foreign land. Over the course of three years, I played on multiple German teams at many different levels to include a woman's league. In my freshman year, I was a varsity small forward on my Stuttgart (DOD) High School team where we won a Division I Championship versus approximately 12 other competitive teams. The style of play was different on the American team in comparison to the German teams, and I learned to bring out the best that both styles have to offer. Over the years, my ability to play with various styles, coaches, and players is something that sets me apart from others. In 2018, our family moved back to the US for one year. I started on my Tuscarora High School team (Virginia ,1500 students) and also played AAU basketball. In July of 2019, my family moved to Vicenza, Italy due to my father’s work. Now, I am a regular starting as a forward on my u18 National level Italian basketball team (Velcofin AS Vicenza - 15 PTS/ 8 RPG / 5 BLKS), while also competing on an Italian women's team (Promozione level), as well as serving as captain and point guard with my Vicenza High School (DOD) team (18 PTS / 10RPG / 5 BLKS) .
Living in Europe has taught me a lot about the world, and I am confident that I can live and succeed anywhere that life takes me. I have learned the important skills of maintaining long distance relationships and understanding the importance of taking risks to make the best of every situation. Basketball is a language of its own, and through the sport I have learned to communicate and adapt to a variety of cultures, making me a more dynamic and well-rounded person.
Altogether, I seek to challenge myself on and off the court. I am on track to graduate high school with an advanced diploma. In college, I would like to study to be a Special Education teacher and play Division at the next level.
