Personal Statement
My name is Gabriela Aisenberg, an 18 year old Salvadoran. I consider myself an athletic person, that has practiced many sports, being most passionate about basketball. I started playing basketball since I was in 1st Grade, and started playing competitive basketball since 3rd Grade. I just graduated Escuela Americana de El Salvador this past June. Throughout all these years I’ve won 6 MVP awards in my school and won All-Star Shooter in a Central American Tournament. Besides my school, I have also played in two teams, in the Semi-Professional National League. I was then promoted to a higher category which I currently play in, First Division National League. Being able to play in a First Division League, has given me the opportunity to new experiences. One of them being that I have had the chance to play with players from different parts of the world, such as Cuba, USA, Mexico, Dominican Republic, among others. I also had the opportunity to play with a world class coach, Rainel Panfet, who was the Cuban National Team coach. Through his demanding work ethics, I learned to value time, dedication, and discipline. I have had to sacrifice many things in order to excel, and improve my skills. I am a strong believer in the phrase "Hard work pays off", because with a strict discipline you start seeing results. When you start seeing results, your consistency must show up, and that is when you know you are moving forward as a player. Sports, specially basketball, have taught me to deal with all kinds of people: coaches, referees, team players, adversaries, spectators; each with different personalities. This has made me adapt efficiently to various situations, both good and bad, that I know at the end will help me throughout life.
