Personal Statement
My name is Aliyah Fraser. I am part of the 2019 class and I have aspirations of playing college basketball in America. I'm from a small province in east coast Canada called Nova Scotia but I attend a prep basketball academy called "TRC Academy" 2000 miles away from home near Toronto,Ontario. I have sacrificed so many aspects of my life in order to pursue the highest level of basketball and i'm willing to do whatever it takes in order to be successful in my sport. I have an 82% average currently in school but this year i'm hoping to improve my average to be 85% or higher and my dream job is a doctor. My personality is very quirky and my friends would describe me as witty, confident, empathetic, responsible and determined. I've had to grow up faster than most kids as I left home for basketball at age 15, which I believe sets me apart from other athletes competing for a scholarship as i'm adjusted to living far away from home and being independant. My TRC Academy team was ranked #1 in the nation for the past 2 years but we unfortunately lost in the championship final 2 years in a row :(. On my team i'm a versatile dynamic guard who plays 2,3, and 4; Three point shooting is my specialty and I am one of the best shooters on my team. Other then shooting my strengths are defence and rebounding as i'm also one of the top defenders on my team. I play a very uptempo, athletic game and I love getting stops on defence/getting in my opponents mind.
