Personal Statement
Living overseas in Naples, Italy hasn't made my life as an athlete easy. However, through my experiences living on the other side of the Atlantic, I've been able to grow and maintain my love for sports, especially basketball. I not only participate in varsity basketball but I also participate in varsity Cross Country, Soccer, and Volleyball. I am currently a rising senior at Naples Middle High School and have been a starter on the Varsity Basketball team since my freshman year. As the starting point guard/shooting guard, I have had a major role on the court, running plays, and maintaining order and above all, team work. I am very dedicated, easily coachable, and I strive to do my very best every time I step onto the court. I don't just play basketball because it's fun, it's my passion. I have aspired to play at the collegiate level since I was 5 years old playing recreational ball at the local gym and later playing AAU basketball. In my 12 years of playing, I have gained experience and confidence in my ability. I have learned how to handle situations on the court under pressure, and I keep a good sportsmanship attitude on and off the court. Some of my basketball accolades throughout high school include: Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) All-Tournament Award (9th, 10th and 11th grade), DoDEA All-Europe (9th, 10th, and 11th grade), Naples High School Team MVP (10th and 11th grade), Team Captain (11th grade), Division II 2019-2020 European Champions (11th grade), Division II Tournament MVP (11th grade), 2019-2020 Stars and Stripes Female Basketball Athlete of the Year, Naples Middle High School Female Athlete of the Year (9th, 10th, and 11th grade), and DoDEA Europe 2019-2020 Female Athlete of the Year.
I am a team player first. I have been told, my enthusiasm, passion and positive energy is contagious. When I push myself on the court, our team pushes itself as well. My desire is to improve my skills every day. I am different from others in that I accept the fact that I make mistakes and keep pushing until I have mastered it. As mentioned earlier, my love for sports is endless, I enjoy all opportunities for playing sports and being outdoors. In the classroom I strive to do my best as well, and have maintained a +4.0 GPA throughout high school. My career path is to become a Biomedical Engineer, and focus my future helping others with mobility disabilities with emphasis on sports injuries. My hope is to find a university that offers Biomedical Engineering as a major and be involved in a welcoming community centered around my student life, education and collegiate level basketball.
Thank you for taking your time to consider me as possibly being a member of your basketball team.
