Personal Statement
Hey coaches, My name is Hilda Wambui. I am a young female who comes from Kenya and is in love with the game of basketball. My short term goal is to get into college and hopefully be able to get into the draft. I want to make a name for my family and my country and Kenya and to be able to provide as many opportunities as I can for young female basketball players like me, to come and achieve their goals here in the US. I was a competitive swimmer but reached a point I had to pick between basketball and swimming and ended up taking the basketball path. I am more passionate about it and know it is capable of taking me places. I love how I have been able to grow so much mentally and I know that I am a good candidate for your team because of my urge to grow and get better. I am a very mental player and it is all about making sure my game is connected to my mind and being able to grow and spread knowledge and wisdom across the team. I love team sports and that's why I chose this over swimming. I am different because I speak things into existence and I am always motivating the people around me and believe that the bond that we have in between our team is key to winning championships. As much as skill is needed in a player, i'm a more mindful and mind game filled player and i love studying the game and i am very good at it as well. Being an athlete juggling two sports and some point taught me time management whereby I was able to balance my academics and athlete life. I am not scared of making sacrifices for either my team or anything to do with basketball. I am very focused and isn't driven away from my morals and values and that is why I have a great belief in my success.
