Personal Statement
G'day from Australia!
I am a hard working Student that has just completed Y10 .I love Basketball, God and my family. My dream is to play NAIA and NCCAA basketball.
I play as a shooting guard on my U17 DIV 1 school team and U18/1 in Rep. I am known for my defensive skills and at the end of games coaches of the opposing team always comment on this & my ability to be everywhere! My motto is "Stay humble, Hustle hard."
Since picking up a basketball in Kinder I have always enjoyed the camaraderie of the game I love. At the beginning of my career I played as the only girl, alongside teams of boys gaining their respect and mate ship. As I grew in my skills I began to teach and encourage younger girls and coached U10s for two seasons earning a Volunteer of the Year award from Casey Council. During the COVID-19 lockdown I also created videos to encourage my Year 6 classmates to get outside and develop new skills as well as take care of themselves. On graduating I was presented with the Olympic Spirit Award, Leadership & Community Service Award.
This year I earned many commendations and a perfect 4.0 GPA in Sports Science. Next Year I will be the Year 11 Female School Captain.
I believe that Hard Work can beat talent and that the skills that God gives us need to be watered to grow. It is important for me to keep challenging myself so that I grow. This year (2024) I changed to a Senior High School with a fantastic Basketball Academy. This has given me many opportunities to play at a higher level and to keep learning new things. I have really enjoyed Human movement. Sports Science and the Strength & Conditioning Subjects. Next year alongside my VCE subjects, I begin a Certificate in Sports Coaching & Recreation which will lead me to continue to nurture and teach others in the future. I aim to study a Physical Education/ Sports Science Degree to be a sports teacher in Elementary school and continue to coach. I am also an A Grade Referee for junior & senior competitions and enjoy the hard work & hustle!
Coming from Australia, I am seeking a Full Scholarship in a Christian University / College for Spring or Fall of 2027. I am looking forward to working hard, giving much and serving the community that I settle into. I know that God has great things ahead and I can't wait to see where he leads me!
