My name is Abby Welter, I am currently a junior at Cascade High School. I play three sports; basketball, track, and volleyball. Basketball is my favorite sport and a sport I practice year round. I have fallen in love with the game of basketball because it gives me an opportunity to challenge and push myself every day. Basketball has always been an important part of my life and my family's. I see myself playing at the college level as a guard/forward combo who can slash and play tough defense. I have the size of a good post player at the high school level, but I have worked very hard on my handles and shooting over the last couple years and during my AAU season this past summer I felt like I really broke out as a whole player. I feel like I can play any position on the court. Some things I do to become better are: ball handling drills, shooting the gun consistently, and joining a strength and conditioning program in the mornings before school. I know that basketball is game of habits and I work everyday at building better habits, whether that be working on my crossover or being a better teammate because what we practice is what we perform. I always try to be the first person at the gym and the last one to leave. What makes me different from other players, is I am very versatile and I'm willing to work harder than anyone else. My hard work and dedication doesn't stop on the court, I bring it to school with me. I hold high expectations for myself and my school work. I have never had a grade below an A- and I received academic awards within my school and conference for being a student athlete.
