I’m a 5’11 junior point guard from Red Oak, Iowa. I am a cross country, volleyball, basketball, tennis, and track state qualifier. Selected as a 1st Team All-State volleyball and basketball player my junior year, I am extremely motivated to make my senior year the best year yet. I’ve also been a unanimous 1st Team All Hawkeye Ten Conference selection in each of those sports the past two seasons as well as finishing 2nd in singles at the Iowa State Tennis Tournament last spring. After my junior year I was named Western Iowa Athlete of the Year by the Omaha World Herald. Although I’ve worked hard to achieve success in each of those sports, my first love is basketball. I love the fast pace of the game and the fact that you can contribute to team success in so many different ways! My sophomore season I led my basketball team to the state tournament for the first time in 90 years. It was a great thrill for my team and my entire community! My junior season I learned a lesson about perseverance and never giving up. My team began the season ranked 4th in the state in class 3A and we started out on a roll beating teams that had been beating us badly for years. Unfortunately, two of our starters were injured and had to sit out the second half of the season. We weren’t a very deep team but we also didn’t want to give up on our season. We battled hard each night out and ended up finishing our season 16-8, in second place in our conference (behind 4A State Champion Harlan) and made it to the Regional Final before losing to eventual 3A State Champion MOC-Floyd Valley. I strive to make my teammates better not only through my game play but through my practice intensity and through my encouragement and belief in them. Along with my athletic accomplishments, I have a 4.0 GPA and am involved in choir, the spring musicals, swing choir, National Honor Society, student council, Letterman’s club and my church youth group. I hope to attend a college with great academic reviews. I am very excited to begin another chapter in my life and am planning on basketball being a big part of my college experience!
