Hey, I am Jamaia Burks, a senior at Todd County Central High. I have been playing basketball as a student athlete for 7 years. I hope to continue the path of basketball into my college years.
I believe that an opportunity like playing college ball could change my life. I have strong physical defense, mental toughness, and a great basketball IQ. I am a team leader and try to lead while also encouraging my teammates. Being a coachable player is key and I know that I am just that. I am a hard worker and I will strive to get better everyday.
Here recently I just started playing AAU and I love it. It helped me work on my game in a different guard position, and opened me up to more options of playing with different people.
In the classroom, I study hard and maintain a GPA of 4.1. Whatever is thrown at me, I will get it done. Along with that, I have had a principal's list for 4 years and was a part of the National Honors Society. I am also a part of a church group at my school named “FCA”.
My future goals are to be a physical therapist or athletic trainer. Basketball is always in my heart and I want to be a part of it in any way possible. I plan to make a difference, and be the most dedicated.
