As a tri-sport athlete, I have learned a lot about myself and life throughout basketball, track, and cross country. I've learned the true meaning of hard work and discipline. I was in 6th grade when I started playing basketball. I started very late compared to my peers on my team. I knew that if I wanted to start, I needed to work twice as hard to achieve this goal. When I think about my past, I realize it was definitely a blessing in disguise. Growing up, my parents always told me that I could do anything I put my mind too as long as I trust God and work hard. When I made the decision that I was going to be the best player that I could possibly be, I started working. Now, to this day, I have not stopped. I have made so much progress, but I am not yet satisfied. I am different from other athletes/recruits because I do hard things that other athletes refuse to do. For example, I go to the gym every single morning before the school day starts and work on building my strength and increasing my speed training. I work with a private trainer at least once a week working on my individual skill work. I shoot 200-350 shots a day, working to perfect my shot. This does not include practice with my school team. Additionally, this past year I have changed my diet to fuel my body with the right foods and protein. I have completely cut out unhealthy foods, that can negatively affect my athletic performance. This was not an easy thing to do, but since doing so, I have noticed a significant change in my athletic performance and the way I feel physically and emotionally. I am in more physical shape and stronger than I have ever been. I am continuing to work behind the scenes to keep improving myself mentally and physically. I believe I'm a good candidate for the team because I always put in the effort to work hard and improve, both individually and as a part of the group. I focus on being a supportive teammate, always ready to help others, communicate effectively, and contribute to a positive team atmosphere. I’m dedicated, reliable, and always strive to make the team stronger as a whole.
