At the beginning of my Junior year, after a successful start to our basketball season, I suffered an injury that would make me miss out on basically my whole Junior basketball season. Needless to say I was devastated. After getting the news that I had torn my ACL, after playing 4 games where I was averaging 15-20 points a game and starting off the season where I had been playing probably some of the best basketball I had ever played, was extremely disappointing . However, after giving my team, my family and myself a few days to process my injury, I made myself a promise that I would not let this set back keep me down. I was then ready and prepared mentally and physically for surgery to repair my knee and I was ready to work as hard as possible to get back out on the court and have a huge comeback for my senior year. While I am still recovering I would say I’ve surprised and shocked everyone with how strong this injury has made me both mentally and physically. It has also made me realize that I now want to have a career in Physical Therapy. I have missed basketball and helping lead my team to victories more than I could’ve ever imagined but I have learned so much through this experience. One thing I’ve learned is how strong I really am and another thing is how deep my love for basketball is. I am looking forward to having a strong finish to my high school basketball career and playing at the next level!
