Hello,
My name is Alexis Marlow, and this is a little bit about me. I have always been a multi-sport athlete. Growing up I swam competitively for 7 years, I have been playing volleyball for 8, and playing basketball for over 10 now. I also danced for 5 years and taught dance for 2. I plan to take sciences at post secondary.
I began practicing basketball at a very young age and began playing competitively in the 6th grade when I made my school's travel team. Since then I have only grown as a player and a person. Due to my remote location, I have struggled to find both competition and opportunity. I live in The Pas, Manitoba, Canada. Roughly 6 and a half hours north of the nearest club basketball team and competitive league (Roughly 10 hours north of Grand Forks, ND). That being said, I have played Varsity Basketball since my freshman year of high school. My school, Margaret Barbour Collegiate Institute, is a school of 350 students max. This puts us in the Manitoba bracket to be a “AA” school. As a “AA” school, Junior Varsity students can play both JV sports and Varsity sports without there being any form of penalty to the school or team. I played both JV and Varisty sports as a starter my freshman year (2019-2020). Due to covid, my 2020-2021 year of sports was canceled. In my 2021-2022 year I started and helped lead my team to Provincials where we fell short in our first game losing 58-60. We then went on to win the Consolation side of the bracket. I received a player of the game at Provincials as well as the season MVP for my team.
I am a very motivated player, and if given the opportunity believe I could succeed and be a great asset to have. I am a very dedicated, coachable, confident, and strong leader. My biggest strength on the court would be my basketball IQ. Reading players and adapting to how they play is something that comes naturally to me. I am a very diverse player, mainly being a forward, but also being a center and a guard on my team. I plan to continue to grow as a player and leader this season and hope to sign to a school for the fall of 2023.
