Basketball has been part of my life since I was born. I've been playing organized ball since I was six years old. I've been playing travel ball since sixth grade and am a junior starting my third year on varsity at Ann Arbor Huron High School. Every spare moment I am in a gym or my driveway sharpening my ball handling, perfecting my shot, or working on moves to score. On top of that, my free weekends and school nights are spent at the local rec center getting up and down with men who are bigger and stronger. This doesn't phase me. I know that it forces me to be faster, smarter, and better fundamentally to hold my own.
I play point guard or out on the wing. I am fast with unbreakable endurance, so I love to get out in transition. I am a very confident ball handler and have great shooting ability. I also love taking the ball to the rim. I am always looking to create for and find my teammates. On defense, I love getting steals and deflections. Even as a guard, I am one of our teams leading blockers. I have unbeatable hustle and love the feeling of shutting someone down on D. Also, I was also a leading rebounder because I understand the art of boxing out and that most of rebounding is wanting the ball more than your opponent. Most of all, I pride myself in being a great teammate and leader on the floor because teamwork and communication are two of the most important things in basketball.
Outside of basketball, I also play club and school soccer. This is great for my leadership skills, foot work, and endurance. Additionally, school very important. In my junior year, I am taking very challenging classes to push myself. Even with challenging classes, I have achieved a 4.0 GPA through my sophomore year. This will help me keep my options open for college. I want to study either Biomedical Engineering or Physical Therapy. I also am a member of the National Honor Society and am on the board in Huron's Women in Science and Engineering club. My involvement in these groups help to strengthen my character, my communication skills, and my leadership skills. Balancing my time is a skill that I have become very good at and know that I will use when I go to college.
My biggest goal is to play basketball in college while continuing my education. I understand that to reach this goal, it takes more than talent. I have the drive, the heart, the basketball IQ, and most of all, the passion for the game that few others have. I am a well rounded person who loves the game more than anything else.
