I'm going to be completely honest. I wasn't a natural born kid with the talent of basketball. I wasn't an A team child, i wasn't even a B team starter. I was always told I could never play basketball, and if I did, id never be good at it. The way our school views athletics, is if your mommy or daddy works for the school you're great! your'e a starter! but unfortunately . I did not have that on my side. I've always been told I couldn't be this or that. But i have spent too many hours in that empty gym shooting around. Too many hours working my butt off, and too many hours working on my skills alone. And I think that's what makes me stand out... everyone can go 1 on 1 with their coach. but how many would stay AFTER those kids left? how many would stay in the gym until 9 just to shoot around to secure a place starting? which I did. I worked to get up from B team bench sitter, to JV starter. Now, starting varsity basketball my junior year, and soon to be starting my senior year. imagine what i could do if I get my hands on a opportunity with a coach who's devoted to win? who will push me, and not tell me ill never make it? Sometimes you gotta give the unnoticed a chance to be noticed, you might be shocked... :)
