Personal Statement

I am going into my Junior year with 2 years of varsity experience and 1 year of AAU experience. My freshman year as a starter on a well known Shelby team was an amazing experience. It showed me how to work together and that you can't just give up when your losing, you win as a team and lose as a team! With that mentality we only lost 3 games in our regular season and then lost in district finals. Going into my sophomore year we lost 3 of our starters. Our team wasn't as good as the years before and I knew I would have to step up my game as a point guard. My team only won 2 games that year and lost our first game of districts. This year I have decided to quit volleyball to devote my time to basketball. I plan to work my tail off on my weaknesses that I have in the game and the mental strategies itself. I plan to help carry my team to state and win!

Academics have always been a big thing in my family, but so has basketball. Everyday when I step into the class room I give my classes 100 percent. I don't mess around and I don't hang out with the wrong crowd. I don't have many friends but the ones I do support me in every step of my basketball career and so do my family members. Academics in my mind are the most important things anyone can have. I believe that with a strong mind you can be a great athlete and you can also do big things in the work field. College isn't always about partying, it's about studying and actually getting somewhere in life. When I was little I always wanted to play basketball. It didn't really start to take off until i was like 9 or 10 when I first met my step dad. He played a lot of basketball and he was very good at it. I always wanted to play with him and he helped me get where I am today. When I told he I wanted to keep playing, he told me I had the potential to go somewhere and that is why I keep going and give my athletics and academics 100 percent!

By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
