- Hi, my name is Destinee Diamond. I am currently a freshman from Clinton, MS. My love for basketball started in the 3rd grade, and I have always dreamed of playing college basketball or maybe even going farther than college basketball. I also do many other things outside of basketball; I sing in a choir, I run track, and I love going to the gym. As an 8th grader, I have always wanted to play with girls outside of my age bracket. As 9th grade approached, I told my parents I wanted to try out for Varsity. Then I began to think as a leader of my Clinton basketball team. I've led them to two Little Six championships. I decided I wanted to stay and play my 9th grade year with them. This past basketball season, I scored 126 points throughout the whole year, and I had a 75 percent free throw average. One thing I would love for you coaches to know is that I am very competitive. As a 5'3" point guard that weighs 130 pounds, I was always told that I was too little or that I needed to gain weight, but I did not let that stop me. Also, I love to be challenged. I grew up being taught that there is nothing that can stop me from doing what I really love. Additionally, I was awarded MVP of the year and a leader award. I feel I can impact any team I play for. I have an amazing personality; I love to laugh and have fun. I like to help others when they are struggling, and I also love when others give me advice. As I got older, I've noticed you can't always do things by yourself, and it's okay to accept help from others. I am also very academically driven. I am hoping to continue my academic and athletic journey.
