My name is Ryan, nickname is "Lightning"
I relocated to Las Vegas from Chicago, IL in the middle of the school year last year. In Chicago, I played four years for top ranked Mac Irvin Lady Fire AAU. In Las Vegas, I played on one of the top AAU teams in Vegas: the Las Vegas Lady Heat. I was able to start and make an impact on the team as a starter, as well as learn some different aspects of the game from the coaches. I am the starting point guard for my new high school. I am an extension of the coach on the floor and embrace the role despite the pressure it can bring.
I am the youngest of four daughters. All of my siblings played basketball and we were all coached by my dad up until high school. All of my sisters received college basketball scholarships. You may have heard of my second oldest sister, Chanise Jenkins (DePaul University, 2016 Big East Player of the Year). I have grown up around basketball all of my life and love the game!
One of my strengths is speed! I like to play hard and fast. I like the no look passes, setting up my teammates to score, driving to the basket and knocking down the three! But I absolutely love playing defense and getting the steal. People tell me I have a little bit of all my sister's strengths in me which is what makes me an all around player. I am different from other recruits because of my basketball IQ, experience and character. I am feisty yet coachable. I want to learn, I want to win! I have overcome adversity and am hungry to create a legacy like my sisters before me. I am focused on my academics as well, my GPA is over 3.5. My major is Education, and I plan on teaching elementary aged children. I know what it takes to be a successful student athlete and I'm ready for the challenge.
