My name is Sydney Chesnut. I have been lucky enough to have started playing basketball when I was in the 3th grade. I developed my love for basketball through Girls Youth Basketball (GYB) here in Las Vegas. From the moment I started, I have never stopped playing whether it be GYB, my school teams or my Club Teams. I am currently a Junior in high school, and in addition to basketball I am also on my high school track team - I am a triple jumper and a sprinter.
Along with my love for basketball, my education and faith are extremely important to me. I maintain a 3.7 GPA, take all honors classes, and I love my involvement with my church. It can be a challenge to balance all my activities, but with my work ethic and passion, I maintain a balance and commitment to my goals. I devote a large portion of my time practicing, working out and developing my skills to becoming a better basketball player.
I know that I am fortunate to be able to play basketball and I am appreciative of all the opportunities and friendships playing basketball has brought me. I have very high goals for myself, one of those goals is to play college basketball. Of the many things I work on to improve my game, I have learned probably the two most important are my communication and leadership. Every day I work on my communication and leadership skills, and I constantly learn the importance of both skills on and off the court. I am driven to continue developing and growing with the help of my coaches and team mates that will help afford me an opportunity to play at the college level.
