Ever since I can remember I have loved basketball. My parents told me that when I was really young, between 2 and 3, they gave me a Nerf basketball and hoop as a gift. It was set up in our basement and I would spend hours down there playing the game I loved. I would even make shots from across the basement!
I graduated from my basement to my town’s recreation league around second grade and quickly moved onto playing for CYO, travel and AAU teams. Starting in sixth grade I played year round on different teams. Sometimes I played on two or three teams a season. In ninth grade I was a starter on James Caldwell High School's Varsity team and had a great season, being selected as honorable mention in the Super Essex Conference – Colonial Division. In my sophomore season I was selected first team in the Super Essex Conference – Colonial Division. I work hard to be a complete player, both on offense and defense, and my stats for this season represent this. In my sophomore season I had 485 points, 50 three pointers, 87 steals and 35 blocks. In my junior season I transferred to Morris Catholic to pursue a more rigorous academic and basketball path. For this season I had 161 points, 28 three pointers, 32 steals and 16 blocks in 15 games. I was required to sit for the first 10 games because I transferred but when I was eligible to play I was a starter. During the spring 2017 AAU season I played for the New Jersey Freedom. While playing for the Freedom I was elected game MVP at a GymRatz tournament in Albany, NY and I was elected to the all-star team for my pool at the US Junior Nationals.
Being a student athlete I know how important it is to be a balanced player and work hard both on and off the court. This is true for education as well. I strive hard to be on the honor roll and my academics are really important to me. I have learned how to balance basketball, school and other aspects of my life. In my spare time I volunteer as an assistant coach for my local recreation department’s travel basketball and work as a coach for the recreation track teams. I have also been a CCD catechist for third graders at my local church and volunteer for various church functions.
I am a dedicated student athlete that looks forward to playing basketball for a college team. I have been preparing for this my entire life and really enjoy all that comes with it. I would honored, to be lucky enough, to have a great opportunity to show my skills and my abilities at the next level.
