Hi, my name is Kasey Bretones, and I am currently a junior year in high school. I have been playing basketball since I was in third grade, and my love for the game has grown on me each time I touch a basketball. I am very competitive and take all things seriously, not just basketball. I will always try my hardest and give 110% in everything I do; at home, in school, and on the court. Ever since I was 9 years old I have dreamed of playing at the collegiate level of Division I or Division II for basketball. As I'm getting closer to being a college student- athlete, my aspirations appear to be attainable. My plan is to continue to work hard everyday to reach this life long dream of mine. When I joined my AAU team in fourth grade, our team believed our top three priorities were "Home, School, Hoops," which is something I have used all through elementary school, middle school, and my first few months of high school. Not only do those three words look good on paper when reading them, but when I apply them to all aspects of my life, they are something that sets me apart from everyone else. To me, I think of those three words as a way to guide my decision making abilities. Whatever I decide to do I will always discuss it with my family; I have good strong relationships with my aunts, uncles, cousins, sisters, parents, and coaches (which have become family to me as well), making everything a lot simpler and decision making much easier as well. When I am at home, I make sure everything that needs to be done is finished the right way, to the best of my ability. In school I do all of my work fully, thoughtfully, and make sure it is handed in on time which would support how I have maintained a 4.50 GPA. When I am on the basketball court or have a basketball in my hand, I am in my element. Basketball puts me in a better mood, let's me forget about everything else that is going on, and it allows me to just have fun. To me, family will always be first, then school, and then finally basketball. Although basketball is the last of the three words I choose to live by, that doesn't mean its importance is any less; I am one of the most hard working and humble players you will see on the court. There are a couple of reasons why I would make a good candidate for your team; I am a team player with excellent sportsmanship, a great work ethic, a positive attitude, a humble personality, and a focused mindset. You will never see someone working harder than me; another athlete may be working just as hard, but never harder. I am a four sport varsity athlete, receiving letters in soccer, volleyball, track, and basketball. I have been told by all of my coaches that I am a very coachable player, and will do anything it takes to make the team I'm on successful. Whether it is in the house, outside, or in a gym, I am always doing something with a basketball in my hand. I have played on some of the highest levels of competition in my area, pushing me and my abilities to make me a stronger player. Ever since I was in fourth grade I have dreamed of playing Division I or Division II basketball at the college level. To better understand the type of player you would be receiving, here is a quote from my assistant basketball coach in high school; "You have the talent and work ethic to play the game at the next level. The way you compete in practice and work at your craft is a pleasure to be around.". My love for the game will always be there and it has been since the first day I touched a ball; I will continue to work hard everyday, and I will stay driven and determined to make my aspirations of playing at the collegiate level come true.
