Gerlynn Romero '25 Recruiting Profile

My name is Gerlynn Romero or better known as GG. Basketball is honestly my life; I have been playing since I could walk, and I joined a club team as early as 3rd grade. The love I have for the game is unmatched, but I could not do it without God and my amazing supportive family. I also realize basketball is temporary in my life and education is forever which is why I have such high academic standards for myself. I am working on getting my associates now in high school so before I graduate, I will have a degree in business with emphasis on marketing, and I will get to start college as a sophomore. The passion I have for basketball makes me want to strive and get better each and every day. Most people rely on motivation whereas I know that motivation comes and goes, I consider myself to be more discipline and understand that you're not always going to want to show up but that's the only way to make it to the top. I consider myself to be a leader, I am the first person to take responsibility for my actions, but I am always sure to make up for where I go wrong. I call my teammates out when necessary, in a respectful manner, in order to benefit our team and better them as players too. I am also very coachable, if I am asked to do something I will with no questions asked, I listen and take into consideration everything that is being told to me, I like to be corrected when I am wrong because I understand that is the only way to get better. I also think it is important to build relationships with your coaches, teammates, and have a bond with the whole team. Team chemistry is huge in basketball, and I do not believe in playing selfish basketball. I like to run down the court and let everyone have an opportunity to touch that ball. I am extremely competitive as well, winning is in my blood, and I will do everything it takes to lead my team to victory.
