Competition, hard work, camaraderie and winning. I've enjoyed those components of sports and particularly basketball since I started playing competitively in elementary school. I remember being upset after each loss in third grade because it mattered that much to me. Still does. I enjoy being an athlete and the responsibility and obligation that requires. I also simply love playing basketball and want to do it competitively for as long as I can.
Despite the fact I was often the tallest girl on my team, I haven't been pigeonholed into playing the post. I played point guard as early as third grade and still play in the back court. I can play the 2,3,4 and 5. Versatility is my greatest strength (I was among the league leaders in rebounds, blocks and assists this season). I'm willing to do whatever it takes for the team and to contribute. I also enjoy being a leader on and off the court, whether that be in the hallways, during workouts, after hours or in class.
I do not have an academic major picked out yet (thinking of pursuing teaching and coaching), but I do know that I want to play basketball in college. Where that is depends on the right fit. I am not as concerned with location, size and distance from home as I am in finding the right coach, team, program and school.
