Going into my Grade 12 year feels unreal as my highschool years have passed so quickly. Yet this motivates me to keep pushing and finish strong in school and basketball.
This is my fifth year playing basketball and I am certain that I want to compete at the highest level of competition I can, in post-secondary school. Academically, I am striving to achieve a 3.9 GPA in my senior year. In college, I plan to get a bachelor's degree in nursing.
Basketball-wise, the main obstacle I had to overcome was the lack of motivation throughout the pandemic when everywhere was shut down, and at moments I lost hope. However, I began to practice daily and see improvement, and I now firmly believe in my ability to play basketball in my post-secondary school years. Unfortunately, I will not be having an official highschool basketball senior season, which is upsetting since there is no definite reason for these circumstances.
On the upside, as an athlete I possess many positive characteristics; I am willing to continue learning, I can communicate with my teammates, be a leader when required, and I take pride in having a strong work ethic on and off the court. Through playing basketball I have learned that I have great dedication, therefore, if I want something, I will work my hardest to get it. I also learned that I can develop in a short amount of time once I put my mind to it. Plus, basketball brings out a different side of me that makes me happy as I enjoy the intensity of the sport. Therefore, I practice almost every day to improve my ball-handling, shooting, and overall game.
