My heart starts racing as I lace up my shoes to get on the court. To say that basketball is my passion is an understatement. I truly love and feel like myself on the court from dribbling the ball, the intensity of defense to the accomplishment of making the points. Basketball has been my joy since I was in 2nd grade with my dad coaching me and by my side throughout. My family and my love for Jesus as a christian has given me the perseverance to keep working hard and never giving up. I did not think I could play basketball in college but I have worked on my skills throughout the last few years in high school and I cannot see my life without playing basketball in college.
I am a leader on and off the court in all aspects of my life. I tend to be quiet but lead by example. I try to learn each one of my teammates to help them improve as well. I am a team captain and communicate with both coaches and players well. I have strong ball handling skills and the best defensive player on the team, always guarding the strongest opposing player. I study and understand the game well, adjusting to new defense, also helping to come up with new plays. I am coachable and help other players during and after practice to achieve success. I work hard on off days with shooting and ball handling. Basketball does not come easy so I take the extra time and personal coaching to get better. I may not be the top scorer but I am one of the hardest working players around.
Basketball is not just a winter sport for me as I play year round to improve my skills. I play spring and summer basketball with a traveling tournament team, personal 1-1 coaching while also participating in high school soccer, running, lifting in the weight room and I raise animals for 4-H. I strive to work hard and eat well to be athletic while always giving 100% to what I am doing in the moment to accomplish my goals.
I study hard in the classroom and have maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout my high school career. I challenge myself with honors and AP classes to prepare myself for college and work life. I will have college credits prior to graduation all while playing sports and balancing life with friends and family. My family owns and runs a ranch that I work at during the summer. This experience has taught me customer service at our farm stand, agriculture knowledge and skills, caring for animals. I am also an active member of my church and have volunteered in the nursery. My love for God inspires me to do my best to glorify Him and creating great moral and ethics.
Basketball and school go together for me and I am excited to continue this journey throughout college. I have proved that I can juggle school and have worked hard to achieve balance between my academics and extra curricular activities to be successful in both. My strong religious background and family have supported me throughout my journey and will always be there for me. I look forward to finding the right college match to help achieve my academic and basketball goals.
