My name is Kaitlyn McGeary and I am currently a junior at Wissahickon High School. I view myself as someone who strives to always be the best form of myself, and I know that it takes consistent hard work to get there. I have been a Varsity starter on my high school team since I was a freshman. Last year I was elected captain of my team and stepped up to lead my team in all ways. I define myself as a leader and role model, whether it is after the first step on to the court, or out in the classroom. Encouraging my teammates and having a positive attitude is what I am all about. Attitudes are contagious and I know that in life of anything you can be, being nice is free. This is why I love to inspire and motivate my teammates and make everyone feel welcome no matter who they are. Two accomplishments I earned last year were Suburban One All League Honorable Mention, and am also extremely thankful to have earned the Montgomery Media All-Area Honorable Mention.
Every single day I am improving mentally and physically in the world of basketball to enhance my abilities on and off the court. I am working and performing diligently and as hard as I can so that I can push myself past my peers and competitors to thrive on the court. I consistently am in the weight room and am getting faster and stronger. I do not want average, so I wake up every day wanting excellence and to improve my skills in all aspects. Furthermore, I am focusing on my academics strongly, as I believe they are as important as athletics. I earned the Distinguished Honor Roll every year in middle school. In my two years at the high school I have earned the Distinguished Scholarship Roll and will continue to strive for this goal in my next two years.
The game of basketball plays a momentous role in not only in my athletics but also in my heart. Since I was a little girl, basketball has always been an escape of reality and something that has always been there for me no matter what. I can always rely on the passion I have for the game, and it is something I will never let go of. I have played basketball in a competitive manner since elementary school and continued throughout middle school. I have played ambitiously in AAU since sixth grade and continue to do so now and the next few years. My sincere goal is to earn a spot at a college that fits my athletic and academic aspirations. I picture myself standing on a college women’s basketball court enjoying and competing in the game I love most surrounded with girls that love the game as much as I do. I am determined to achieve my goal academically and athletically while having fun in the process of it all! I cannot wait to see what the future holds and explore options with tremendous coaches and programs in the next few years!
