As a student athlete I firmly believe in always putting your best foot forward in and out of the classroom. One of my school's biggest philosophies is that being a student comes before being an athlete. Academics have always been very important to me, and I am looking for a college that will both challenge me and support me in my learning. I always strive for excellence and the opportunity to learn more, and I am not so prideful to believe that I am always right (as much as I would like to be). Over the years I have learned that it is okay to not always be perfect, and basketball has given me to opportunity to show how I can grow as an individual. From sixth grade to now I have developed a real love for this sport and the person it has helped me to be. My hope for the future it to continue playing for as long as I can and to continue developing as a person and player.
One of my biggest strengths is that I am always working for the benefit of the team. Basketball is a team sport, meaning that the only way to succeed is to work together. Coach Chris Day has been one of my biggest mentors for the past five years, and is the reason we give "two claps for the family" before every practice and game. Whether it's during practice or a game, I am always cheering on my teammates for their accomplishments. If there's a negative energy in the gym that can truly harm your playing, and it is always one of my goals to bring a positive mentality to game and my team. My time on the high school track and field team has definitely helped me to develop this mindset. While you are competing against another team, you are also working to improve your personal best. Working on yourself for the benefit of the team is a fundamental part of basketball, and I am more then willing to put in the work.
