My name is Lindsey Gaskey and I am a Junior from Ligonier, Pennsylvania. I have been playing basketball since my seventh grade year and quickly fell in love with the sport. I enjoy the challenges that basketball presents, the motivation it gives me to always work on elevating my game, and working in a team dynamic where everyone can contribute to achieving a shared goal. Being given the opportunity to play for the Lord is a blessing, as faith is important for me.
I currently attend Greater Latrobe High School where I take AP courses and am taking college credit courses. I went to Ligonier Valley High school for my Freshman and Sophomore year where I completed honors classes and college courses. Some activities that I have participated in are; Treasurer of Student Council, FBLA, Leadership Role in JROTC, SADD, Spanish Honor Society, and maintained Honor Roll status while taking college level courses.
I have competed athletically as a starter on Varsity Basketball as a Freshman and a Sophomore. Additionally, I also have competed for Flood City Lightning and Erudite AAU basketball. My priority is putting the team and the team‘s success first. I play as an aggressive point guard, consistently pushing the pace and showing my leadership on the court. My favorite part of the game is defense, as it allows me to showcase my aggressiveness and make a significant impact.
Although my first basketball season was cut short due to COVID, I continued my passion and began training with my personal trainer, Timotheus Pope. He has played a huge part in my athletic career over the years. He has not only improved my game and taught me all the correct fundamentals, but he has helped me tremendously with my mental performance. I train with Coach Pope every morning before school from 6:30-8:30 as well as Monday through Friday during the summer. We work on weight lifting, speed training, agility, and my game through various ball handling and shooting drills. I also attended camp at IMG academy where I got to work in a competitive group setting on the court as well as 1 on 1 with the coaches. During my time there I also got to work with mental performance specialists as well as nutritionists to teach me a well rounded approach to the sport I love.
It has been a dream of mine since I started my basketball journey to play at a collegiate level. My goal is to pursue a degree in Psychology, more specifically Sports Psychology. My passion and leadership would never be a question if I were to join your program.
