After playing basketball for one year in middle school, I instantly fell in love with the game. But I actually ended up starting my freshmen year at a different school. It took a lot of consideration and courage but I finally decided to try out for the basketball team. I ended up making the freshmen team and I was not happy about it. But, it was actually a major character builder and I'm grateful for the experience. Once the season had ended I started going to open gyms with the varsity and jv teams. I remember I wasn't getting my layup form right and after working one on one with a coach and practicing it for hours everyday for weeks, I finally got it. Now I help teach it to all of the girls on my team. The point of that story is that I've worked really hard to get where I am and I'm still working to get even farther. Last year I was awarded under classmen of the year, I am now the only returning starter, and the top 3-point shooter on the team (and I also was last year). I have practiced and practiced to play like I do now, and I'm not going to stop. After high school, I don't want to be done playing basketball and I am going to work hard and make sure that that does not happen.
