Emily Runey '20 Recruiting Profile

I am a 5’ 5” point guard from Charleston, SC.  I have been a varsity starting point guard since the 7^th grade.  I have a 3.83 unweighted GPA and a 4.65 weighted GPA.

I am looking for a school where I can find the right balance between the classroom and gym.  They are equally important to me.  I am currently interested in the medical field and would ideally like to find a university with a good sports medicine program.

I have been to many PGC (Point Guard College) camps.  They teach the acronym SCHAPE (Spirit, Communication, Hustle, Approach, Precision, and Enhance). I bring hustle, work ethic and leadership to any team I play on and help SCHAPE every environment that I am in.

I believe that I am a true point guard and a student of the game.  I look for the highest percentage shot every time we head down the court.  I have a vision on the court, I understand the offense and can counter with the appropriate defense.  I can direct my team on the floor.  I believe I am respected for my basketball IQ and my delivery is not arrogant or condescending.

I want all of my teammates and opponents to have their best game ever when I play with them.  I just want to train and be prepared to outplay them.  I will never win a game at the expense of my opponents.  I will not play dirty, I will not trash talk.  I will help them up when they fall.  I have had coaches say to me “just leave them” – that is not me, we are all one on the court together, basketball athletes.

I am also a student-athlete who is dedicated to training according to my dreams and aspirations.  I would like to be in a basketball program where I can make a difference and contribute early in my college basketball career.
