Personal Statement

My name is Danielle Hatchett and I have been playing basketball since I was 6 years old.  I attend Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria, Virginia. Since my freshman year I have had the privilege to play varsity basketball.  The last three years have afforded me the opportunity to grow personally and athletically.  My skills have increased greatly because I workout independent to my regular team practice because I noticed from watching game footage that I needed to strengthened certain areas.  My stats are low due to the amount of playing time I have received during my freshman and sophomore years but this year I am getting more playing time which I feel will bring my stats up along with my continued dedication and determination to play smart and lead my team to victory.  I am very active in school and belong to several clubs where I'm able to use my leadership skills off the court.  In college I plan to major in medicine specializing in children's rare diseases where I hope to make a difference in someone's life.  Although I am very serious when it comes to school and basketball I consider myself a normal junior in high school who likes to read, watch tv, listen to music, spend time with my family and friends, attend church and have fun and enjoy life.

Events

  • Camp/Event
  • Down Under Sports Basketball Hoops Classic
  • 7/13/14 to 7/21/14
  • The 2014 Down Under Sports Basketball Hoops Classic was run by the Gold Coast Regional Basketball Association. The tournament had an Olympic-style format with competition for gold, silver and bronze medals. The United States teams were mixed in with Australian teams and put into two pools. The tournament started on Friday night with two pool play games, Saturday morning continued with pool play throughout the day completing six to seven pool play games. Sunday had teams placed into a tournament bracket with continuation of play according to how they finished within their pool. In 2013, a USA girls’ team won the silver medal. This is a great experience for everyone who participates. Each athlete learns a different style of play in Australia due to international (FIBA) rules making for a fast paced, up-tempo game. It is a great chance to meet Australian athletes and make friends by the end of the tournament!
  • Camp/Event
  • Maximum Exposure Elite Camp
  • 7/05/14 to 7/06/14
  • These camps are ONLY for those players, who are serious about playing college basketball. All Camps are for Boys and Girls (separate events) and only rising 8th graders and older. The two-day camp format will be intense and players will be instructed by many of the top individual instructors in the country. Please visit our staff page for other coaches who will be running these events, all of which have coached at the Division I level.Instruction will be given by ONLY current and former college basketball coaches. Campers will perform drills and skill work that they would be doing if they were current college players. The Camp will include but not be limited to on court instruction (speed dribbling and full court moves off the dribble; half court and transition shooting; passing with a purpose; using and defending screens; ball screen actions; 3 on 3; controlled scrimmages); detailed discussion on how to put yourself in the best position to get recruited; nutrition and diet; academic evaluation and goals; and the various basketball opportunities at all collegiate levels. At the end of each Camp, every participant is given a detailed evaluation of what they do well and what they need to work on in order to reach their dreams of playing collegiately. We will then send these evaluations out to every college coach in the country. This can be a huge help to your recruiting. There will be games played during the event (the end of the day Saturday and Sunday) and college coaches as well as recruiting services will be invited to attend.

At the elite camp, we will go through advanced skills and team drills where each athlete will be evaluated by our coaching staff. Through this experience, it is our hope to recognize those young ladies who could become future Golden Eagles while also giving each athlete the opportunity to understand what college coaches are looking for in future recruits.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
