Personal Statement

I have always been a goal setter. It is my goal to get the most out of my education, in order to get a fulfilling career in the future. It would be my dream to do this while also achieving my goal of playing basketball at the college level. I have dedicated my time and energies to achieving these goals. I have worked hard to be a successful student in the classroom, while earning varsity letters in three sports: soccer, basketball, and track. As you can see, I have no trouble balancing academics and athletics.

Even though I enjoy other sports, basketball is my passion. I have played AAU club basketball for 8 years, and I played varsity basketball the last three years for Tahoma High School, starting every game as the team’s shooting guard. As a Junior, I was named Defensive Player of the Year and Team Captain. I led the SPSL 4A league in 3-point shooting and steals. As you can see, I am not just a 3-point shooter, I am also my team’s lockdown defender. Whenever we need to shut down the other team’s star player, my coaches call on me.

Coaches put their trust in me because I have one thing that has always set me apart from everyone I have ever played with and against: I WORK HARD. Some players work hard some of the time, usually when they are trying to earn a spot or during a crucial game. I always work hard, all practice, every practice, all game, every game, all season, every season; I always outwork everyone else. My parents have taught me that you can achieve anything with hard work and a good education. With this in mind, I find myself very interested in the sports medicine field, where I hope to put my strong work habits to good use in the future by helping athletes recover from their injuries, so they can achieve their goals.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
