Marissa Koch '20 Recruiting Profile

My name is Marissa and I am a 5’ 9” beach volleyball player from Huntsville,  Alabama.  I am interested in both beach volleyball and indoor volleyball.  As a freshman, I was a starting player on my high school varsity team in 2016.  In addition, I was named to the 5A Area All-tournament team and I received the Coach’s Award.  For my sophomore season, I was a starter and all-around player on the high school varsity team.  In addition, I was named to the 5A Area All-Tournament Team and Most Valuable Player.  I can never get enough practice.  I am a determined player and always strive to improve my skills.  I practice at home when I am not with my team.  I love to play with older girls so that I can continue to get better.  My motivation comes from watching other athletes.  Whenever I see someone else do an amazing shot or get an amazing dig, I want to learn how to do it. 

For beach volleyball, I have continued to improve my skills, attend camps, and participate in collegiate showcases and tournaments.  I travel extensively to the Atlanta area, Gulf Shores, North Carolina, and California.

It is my dream to play college beach volleyball.  Ideally, I would like to go to a large university.   I am not worried about where the college is located.  It is crucial that I go to a school with lots of competition and good academics.  Currently, I have a 4.25 GPA and I am interested in studying in the fields of athletic training, sports medicine,  kinesiology, and/or nursing.
