Hello, my name is Kaylie Beck and thank you for taking the time to review my profile.
I am a Senior and attend Woodcreek High School in Roseville, CA. Sports have always been a big part of my upbringing and I love to play. It's taught me a lot about teamwork, competition and dedication. I grew up playing many sports, including swimming, soccer, softball and that turned into volleyball and basketball, and now I have settled on playing beach volleyball and indoor volleyball. I have just recently dropped basketball to dedicate more time to them both playing for both my high school and club teams in each sport. That being said "I really do have a passion for Beach Volleyball."
This will be my 3rd summer playing beach, I am 17 years old. I’m an A2 in USA Beach Volleyball High Performance. I currently train with Kevin McColloch at "Moxie Beach" Volleyball Club in Davis I have played for Newcastle Beach Volleyball and Greg Krause in the past and owe my love of the game to him.
I will be training often this off-season with/against good players, and will be playing in events with/against good players with one thing in mind, I want to be ready for that next step -- my primary goal is to play Beach Volleyball in College at the highest level possible. The last two seasons for High School Beach Volleyball in the NIVBL of Sacramento Region which included 44 schools, my partner and I placed 5th in points out of 160+ teams, and in match play team competition as our #1 led us to a 3rd place finish and had a win in the semifinal match of Team Match Play Championships.
I would also be interested to play indoor if a school so desires, I am a setter/opposite for Auburn Aces 18's Black but have also hit outside and played back row earning MVP and 1st Team Honors of the CVC League and All Sierra Foothill League as a Utility player my Sophomore season. I was just recently named to the USA National Team for Deaf Volleyball, one of only 3 high school players the rest current and former Div 1/2/3 players, (I'm hard of hearing and have played beach up until now without hearing aids, but I wore hearing aids in basketball/indoor volleyball allow me to communicate just fine, and I will be able to wear them in beach now as I am getting new hearing aids so I can wear my old ones. ) That being said, I feel that so much communication in sports is using peripheral vision and having that "other sense" a feeling/observation/understanding of what your teammates and opponents are doing so I feel that with hearing aids now in beach I am even stronger. The necessity of versatility in beach volleyball is what I believe has led to much of my success. I think I could offer a program a versatile player, one that can block and defend, set and hit, play left or right side. I am also a student of the game; and I love the determination required, constant adjustments to the elements, communication needed, mental toughness, and physical fitness required to play tough matches and long tournaments.
I have always been a "lead by example" player. I am one that works hard, takes feedback and always wanting to improve my game. When I show up, I give 100% and work hard to push my team to do the same. I also take this to the classroom where I honored to be part of the National Honor Society and also dedicate time to give back to our community. I was also nominated as 1 of 3 female students at our high school to attend our CIF Section "Women in Sports" meeting.
My goal is that I would love to be a part of a Beach program and continue to play beach volleyball throughout college and help the team find success. I would like to major in exercise science or exercise physiology and become an Athletic Trainer or become a Physical Education Teacher. As both a basketball and indoor volleyball player I love the team concept so I look forward to the match play concept where energy, passion, camaraderie are important.
Thank you so taking the time to review my profile. Have a great day.
