SARA WILLIAMS:
Hi Coaches- welcome to a sneak peek of my life, here’s a little more about me: My name is Sara Williams and I am a 2026- 5'8 Split Blocker from Toronto, Canada. I currently train at a sports boarding school located in Port. St Lucie, Florida called Rush Volleyball (formally Altitude.) My goal is to play beach volleyball long-term as it is my passion and a little escape from reality. When I first discovered beach volleyball I instantly fell in love with the sport and being able to have a more hands-on, independent approach to the game. I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when I was 10 years old and 1 year later with celiac disease, which at such a young age can take a toll on a little girl. I thought my life was completely over and I would no longer be able to do the things I loved and eat whatever I wanted. I couldn't have been more wrong, being diagnosed was a life-changing moment in my life, but for the positive. I wouldn't change a thing about my life because discovering my Type 1 led me to begin my volleyball career, find my forever sport and only make me stronger. As a kid, I went through a lot of sports, practically every year was me trying out something new; until I reached volleyball and I wish I had found it sooner. No matter what goes on in my life, as soon as I step onto the court all of my problems disappear and I get into a zone where I get to just have fun and enjoy myself.
I've always been a big planner whether it came down to birthday parties, schedules for my week, my future, etc and now I have the opportunity to plan my life and play the sport I love at a school that I will love. As for academics and majoring I've always been interested in psychology and how the brain works, why people behave the way they do, as well as to help others. I love providing advice for my friends- they tend to call me the "therapist friend," and I find joy in helping others. As well as kinesiology for sports/physical therapy as I find both degrees to be challenging, yet rewarding to put my work to good use for the sake of those in need. I can't wait to see where beach volleyball continues to take me in my life, continue to meet amazing people and coaches along the way and try new things constantly! Thank you and I appreciate you checking out my profile!
