My goal is to become a collegiate-level diver. I was a level 10 gymnast by age 13, and I did gymnastics for around 11 years. After retiring from gymnastics after my 7th grade season, I decided to give power tumbling a try. After only 4 months in the sport, I qualified for the Elite National Tumbling Team. That summer I attended my very first diving camp. I fell in love with the sport immediately. I knew that I needed to fully commit my time to it in order to be successful. I now dive at Marshalltown High School, and also on a club team coached by the Grinnell College diving coach. In my freshman year of diving I was the only freshman to qualify for state. During my sophomore year, I placed 4th at state. During my junior year season, I was the runner up at state. I broke all-time school record for diving in both the six and eleven dive 1 meter events at our high school, breaking a 32-year old record In my sophomore year, and in my junior year I broke my own records multiple times.
In addition to diving, I participate in football cheer, basketball cheer, and track. I am a 4.0 student and take a very full schedule including multiple college courses each semester. I also work a part time job at a wedding venue and another part time job at arts and craft shows.
With this schedule, I have learned to be extremely organized and responsible. I understand the importance of hard work and being a good teammate. I feel that these qualities make me a better student, a better diver, and a better person
