I was told as an aspiring freshman diver that making it to the Ohio High School State Diving Meet was very ambitious, and I should be prepared to be disappointed. To this I said “we’ll see what happens”. I worked harder and harder each practice as the tournament approached, I ended up breaking my league championship record, being the only non-senior in the top 3 at the District Meet in Southwest Ohio and then I finished as the only freshman on the podium at the State that year.
I have maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout high school while participating in school and club diving, school leadership groups and my school’s choir and theatre productions. I have had to learn how to handle being involved in multiple activities at once because I refuse to let time management challenges keep me from doing the things I love.
I love excelling as a diver, expressing myself through singing, piano, and theatre, expanding my knowledge of science, math, and language, and leading my classmates to benefit our school. All of these activities and responsibilities keep me on my toes, but they have also taught me to manage my time well to excel in all of my interests.
Academics and diving have always been important to me, but I would not be the person I am today without being involved in music and various leadership groups throughout my life. I especially enjoy singing and playing at church as well as accompanying my choir, the Oak Hills Varsity Singers, on piano. Being on stage for these performances has taught me to do my best when “the lights are on”and when I’m under pressure; something that goes hand-in-hand with diving competitions. Some of my favorite memories of high school so far have been in many leadership roles at Oak Hills, first as Freshman Class President, and now in Student Government where I am planning the logistic of this year’s prom, leading Freshman Orientation activities, and recently planned a Leadership Retreat for over 150 students.
I am looking for THE school that will allow me to continue with the broad foundation I have worked so hard to develop and maintain. More importantly, I want my college experience to build upon and expand my horizons so I can “see what happens” next.
