My goal is to attend college to pursue a degree in a science-related field, possibly physical or occupational therapy, or pharmacy. As a college student, I would like to continue competing at the highest level that I am capable of reaching as a diver.
I would be a good candidate for a college diving team because I have consistently achieved success as a competitive diver during my five years in the sport. As a national qualifier four times, I have had the opportunity to see and compete with some of the best divers in the sport. This has really motivated me to set higher goals for myself, and I have been able to move toward these goals by working hard and staying focused. Because I train hard on and off the board, I have been able to become a more competitive diver and increase my degree of difficulty on both the 1m and 3m boards.
What makes me different from other recruits is my dedication to diving, and my work ethic as a diver and as a student. When I was younger, I trained as a gymnast in an extremely disciplined and competitive gym. I needed to balance my schoolwork with a very time-intensive practice schedule. In order to succeed, I needed to be really tough mentally, very strong, precise in every movement, and extremely focused in practice and when I competed in meets. This background has helped me a lot in the classroom, and in the sport of diving, where all of these traits have helped me to progress and succeed.
One final note. The most recent video that I posted was taken 6 weeks after I returned to diving after a stress fracture in my shoulder. I am on a strength and conditioning program for my shoulder to prevent future injury and I am very happy to be progressing with my training at a steady rate.
