Hi! My name is Maggie Turpin, I am a diver for Laramie High School in Laramie Wyoming. I started diving, just a little over a year ago, my Sophomore year under a program in my birth place Sheridan Wyoming. In sheridan there was a small pool, no dryland facility, and poor coaching. So, my family and I moved south to Laramie just this year. Before I had moved I was competing unsafe and reckless dives with little basics and precision awareness. In about 5 months of coaching and training under Laramie I broke several pool records in Wyoming, set a new All-Conference Record and Won Conference Championships, and won the state championships by almost 30 points. Now in just around 10 months I have learned an entire 3m list with three different 05‘ dives including (105b, 205c, and 405c) after never stepping on a 3m springboard in my life. Along with that I competed in my first ever Regional Championship 10 months after I began and placed 2nd on 3m. I also placed 5th on 1m at regionals qualifying me for zones in both 1m and 3m at my first ever USA Diving meet. In school I am a hard worker and am very passionate about Literature and the Arts. I hope to major in Graphic Design and continue to follow that passion through college and the rest of my life. I want to be a college athlete for diving because I live for this sport. I grew up as a gymnast from a very competitive environment at a young age. And ultimately diving is what gets me out of bed in the morning, I love this sport with all I am and put my entire life into it and with more experience and time I believe I can achieve great things.
