My name is Simone Horton-Parham, and I am a junior at James Clemens High School. I have maintained a 3.78 GPA while taking a rigorous course load that includes honors and advanced placement within our school's Engineering program. In addition to my academic achievements, I have been a dedicated member of my high school's varsity golf team since freshman year where I have consistently shown growth in advancing my skillset to be an asset to my team.
Though I was introduced to the game of golf in the first grade, playing competitively is still new to me and I have been putting in extra effort to improve my game both during the golf season and off-season. This is now proving to be helpful as I have been able to hit the ball farther and more accurately this season. I am confident that I will continue to make progress as I prepare for golf at the collegiate level.
I am seeking a college with a strong engineering program, and an active Women's Golf team. Right now, I am open to learning about all colleges that can offer this, but I am extremely interested in North Carolina A&T University, Savannah State University, Prairie View A & M University as well as Southern U. and Jackson State U. (with the rumors swirling of reinstating their golf programs). I am impressed with these universities' academic reputation and their commitment to excellence in athletics. I am particularly interested in learning more about their golf programs and the opportunities for student-athletes to develop their skills and compete at a high level.
In addition to golf, I have been involved in a variety of extracurricular activities throughout high school, including volunteering at a local food bank through the Psi Alpha Zeta Youth Archonette group of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. (Psi Alpha Zeta Chapter) where I am a member, volunteering with Girls, Inc. via Diamonds on the Green, LLC. to introduce golf to other young ladies, and participating as a Teacher's Assistant at AIM High STL during the summers. I have also held part-time jobs during the summer and school year to gain work experience and develop my time management skills.
I am very excited about the possibility of joining a collegiate golf team and contributing to a university's tradition of excellence in both academics and athletics. I would greatly appreciate any additional information you could provide about the university and golf program you represent, including the availability of athletic scholarships for the fall of 2025. Thank you for considering me and taking a look at my profile!
