Throughout my childhood, I played many sports, such as softball, soccer, basketball, and swimming, but none could beat the fascination I had for the game of golf. In my 8th grade year, I decided golf was the sport that I had the biggest passion for. In my freshman year, I made the varsity team, and had a very successful season in an extremely competitive league. After shooting the second lowest score overall in my first local school tournament, it drove me to want to continue to compete that much more. As a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo, I am taught discipline and perseverance, which I feel carries into my golf game. Also, I have been playing the piano and singing for seven years, and hold a Level III Certificate of Merit in music. From piano, I’ve learned the importance of practice and patience, which is also one of the most important aspects in golf. I am currently a volunteer coach for the First Tee of Tri-Valley, and decided to participate in the program as well, as I found that I am enjoying the people there, as well as working with the kids. So I will continue on that path until I receive the final certification level.
I practice daily, and have been focusing on gaining confidence and lowering my scores. Due to my work ethic, I was able to decrease my index from a 17 to a 1.9 in less than two years. I attended golf camps at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, and worked with amazimg coaches, such as Grant Price. I had some of the greatest experiences at the academy, and was so grateful to be surrounded by remarkable people and coaches. During my college years, I will strive to be the best I can be, both physically and mentally. Most importantly, I will conduct myself with respect, knowing that the way I carry myself will affect my team. I envision the college I attend to be a time of personal growth. It would be an honor to play for, and represent, a college that not only provides a good golf program, but a good education and an enjoyable environment. I consider myself a great teammate, and I try to always conduct myself with a professional attitude and exhume positive energy during my matches and tournaments that not only will have a positive reflection on my game, but also those around me.
