My name is Ashley Dunbar, and I am 16 years old, I started taking golf seriously my freshman year of high school. My dad is a professional golfer and a professional caddy on the LPGA tour. I got the inspiration to start golf and to choose it as my future when my dad started taking me to some LPGA tournaments and being able to meet some of my favorite players and getting to talk about their experiences with golf. My mom is the one who I spend the most time with at home and is the one who is always taking me to my tournaments and signing me up for them. I grew up as an only child, so many of the things my parents and I go through are very new to us. The end of 2022 I joined an organization called Ventura County Junior Golf Association (VCJGA) and started to play in a couple tournaments and I stayed with them for a little while to get use to playing in tournaments. Then in the summer of 2024, I joined another organization called California Junior Golf (CJG), and I have been playing in more and more tournaments with them ever since. I have been on my high school's varsity team since my freshman year. My handicap is around 7 to 8, and I am averaging from 77 to 80 for my 18 hole tournaments. My goals for being a first generation in my family is to get an offer from a good school and being able to play college golf. My goal is to make my parents proud and have them be able to watch me play college golf and be on a team that I will be able to call my second family.
