Simply put, my collegiate goal is to graduate with a major in Mathematics and a minor in Kinesiology. I would like to teach and coach in secondary education. I believe that golf, along with strong academics, would greatly assist in my journey to my career. I have been involved in multiple sports throughout my life and the cross-training has taught me a lot, including how important mental strength is and how crucial the relationships with my teammates and coaches are. I have learned that the "Three C's" (Class, Character and Courage) are necessary in all sports and every part of life. I have learned that a strong work ethic in the classroom spills over into a strong work ethic as an athlete.
What I love about golf is that it is both an individual sport and a team sport; what makes me different is that I am all about the team first. I would love to find a golf team and a college where the course is my home and practice is my favorite part of the day; where we face working out knowing that we will work through things together, not individually; where the name on the front of my uniform truly represents what I stand for, individual accomplishments are shared and cherished, and team accomplishments are celebrated and never forgotten, where I can count on my team being there for me no matter what. If I can find a place where the team is my family and the college is my home, then I will know I have found something special and will give everything I can for the success of the team.
The game of golf has taught me how to keep my mind strong and to stay positive in even the toughest situations. Recovering is crucial, whether it is coming back with a birdie right after a double bogey, or having enough confidence in my putter to drop that one-putt after a three-putt on the previous hole. I know that golf is not a game of perfection but a game of recovery and adjustments. Growing up in a competitive family, I have learned to be aggressive in the game, but I also know how to be focused and composed at the same time.
