My name is Sofia Hawkins Rodriguez Pierson. I was born and raised in California and my ethnicity is a mix of Native American and English. I started swinging plastic, Snoopy golf clubs that I got for my first birthday from my parents. My dad started taking me to the driving range when I was three years old and he says my favorite part was the free popcorn machine.
I tried a variety of activities from the age of 3 years old. I played youth soccer and tennis, I had four years of piano lessons, I took theater and coding classes, and I volunteered at my church. I was on the Novice (9th & 10th grade) Parliamentary Procedure team at SLO High School and we won the California State Championship in April of 2023. I really enjoyed thinking on my feet and speaking in front of a crowd. I was a volunteer intern at our local community theater. Up until May of 2022, I played on a travel volleyball club in addition to playing golf tournaments. My dad has been a big part of teaching me and getting me to where I am as a golfer.
My collegiate aspiration is to help my team win the NCAA Championship. I believe what makes me a great candidate for your team is not only my passion for golf, but also that I'm a great student with a well rounded personality. I'm a natural leader who likes public speaking, but I'm also very coachable and I'm always striving to learn more to improve myself and my game.
My strengths are my mental toughness and the power I have to get a lot of distance off the tee. Since recently turning 16 years old, my latest goal is to carry my drives 250 yards consistently. I'm very competitive and I always want to win but I'm also very even tempered. I'm a social person and I love having a lot of friends. I also enjoy reading and quiet time alone when I want to relax.
