Personal Statement

My name is Dymphna Ueda, a 17 year old Northgate High School Junior student. I am a native of the Republic of Palau and came to Concord, California with my parents in 2002 at age 2. I currently stand 4'11" and weight-in at 100 lbs. I began my interest in golf at age 3 under the guide of my father. I started competing in the U.S. Kids Golf Bay Area Local Tour at age 8. From age 9 to 14 I received the Top Five Player Award Recognition for 6 summers that included 3 Player of the Year Awards with  invitations to both the World Championship in 2011 and Teen World Championship 2012 and 2013 at Pinehurst North Carolina.

I made the Northgate High School Women's Varsity Golf Team as a Freshman in the 2014 -2015 season. For the 3 years I managed to help the Team go undefeated in league games, win the League Championship Tournament 3 consecutive years along with automatic qualifier to the North Coast Conference Tournament of Champions. I was named league MVP in my Freshmen and Sophomore year and individually qualified to the Nor Cal Sectional Tournament in my Freshman year. I was given the challenge  of being the Golf Team Captain in this 2016-2017 season. Playing High School Golf has been a learning experience in managing academics, practice, league games and being a motivator to my teammates. I am looking forward to my senior year 2017-2018 with greater challenges and higher expectation.

I played only 7 tournaments in the 2016 Junior Golf Association of Northern California (JGANC) for the second straight summer with goals of improving statistical percentages in all aspects of my game. As a result I did end the summer winning the overall Fairfield Junior Championship August 1-2 with a score of 74-68 -142. The following day August 3rd I won the overall Concord City Junior Championship by posting another round of 68. With these NCGA entry performances I ended the summer lowering again my handicap Index from previous 2.5 down to current 1.0. I look forward for the 2017 JGANC Tour schedule where I plan on entering 13 tournaments that will include the Junior World and the U.S. Junior Girls qualifiers. This ambitious schedule will certainly prepare me for the 2017-2018 High School Golf league.

I am fully committed to the prospect of playing golf in the next college level. I am open to any colleges with confidence that I could help make a difference in their program. The school division status or size of student enrollment is also not a real factor. What is important to me is a college campus that does give a sense of community, promotes diversity, student safety and security. A college with proven Academic Excellence with a major degree that is reputable.

My short-term athletic goal is being an impact player that will contribute to the success of a college golf team and in completing a degree.  I believe I have strengths and qualities that will a team. By nature I am a very quiet, reserve, but mindful individual. My inner strengths are reflected in my ability to staying focused, being present minded, tenacious (never giving up), and integrity. I want to be part of a team that does not only enjoy the challenges of high level competition, but with teammates that embraces the value of good sportsmanship, relationships, respect, and honoring the integrity of this game.

My long-term goal is being a successful student athlete that will make a difference in the lives of others.
