Personal Statement

My journey in golf began in December of 2016 when I decided for the first time to pick up a club and join my father in a round of golf.  Having a father who played college golf, I have never been a stranger to the game, nor the discipline and diligence it takes to both physically and mentally excel.  My first year in high school I played on the junior varsity squad for golf and realized that the same passion my father has for golf is inherited.

Now in my junior year of high school and having made varsity golf for the past year and upcoming season, I am proud to say that my golf scores have increased dramatically over the past two years.

Academically, I  have continually maintained a 3.17/4.0 GPA while playing varsity golf, dancing on the varsity poms squad, serving as a mentor to classmates, and being in multiple clubs.

And finally, why consider me among the many candidates who might come your way?  While trying to showcase myself while holding true to humility that my parents have instilled in me, I believe I bring patience, diligence, and an open mind to be coached and mentored both on and off the course.  I see collegiate athletics as a privilege never to be taken advantage of- I view opportunities with hard work, passion, and most of all integrity.  I believe what sets golf aside from other athletic opportunities is the fact that the game is a gentlemen/ladies’ game that requires skill, grace, determination, and most of all humility.  Playing for a collegiate team, I hope to help my teammates meet the mission of the golf athletic program, while meeting the mission and vision of the college/university. Thank you for taking the opportunity to review my profile.  I welcome any opportunity to connect with you in the future.

  • 6200 yard par 70. Shot 90-82. Game is starting to get back in shape from not getting to play during June. Hit the ball much better on day 2. Smaller field but there was a tie for the lead on the first day and I was able to hold off the other competitors to win the event. The second day I had 2 triples due to course management mistakes.

  • shot 93 with a 2 shot penalty for hitting the wrong ball, had 4 other OB penalties. This course was 6000 yards with a course rating of 78.4/148 from the tees we played. Work to do. Still finished 5th out of 25 because of toughness of course.

  • Recruitlook Tour

  • 92-91. First tournament back 1 day after being gone in Poland on mission trip for 2 weeks. Ready to get back after it. Really struggled with ball striking after not touching a club in 30 days. Short game kept me in it.
  • Camp/Event
  • Colorado 5A CHSAA State Tournament
  • 5/20/19 to 5/21/19
  • I played a practice round on 05/16/19 and shot a 74, 40 on the front and 34 on the back. I played another practice round on 05/19/19 and shot a 76, 40 on the front and 36 on the back. For the first round of the state tournament, it was 30 degrees and the weather was wet and had snow, rain, and hail throughout the round. I shot an 81, with a 39 on the front and 42 on the back. I struggled with my putting throughout the round, I hit 15/18 greens but was struggling with sinking makeable putts to get me to a lower score. The second day of the tournament was canceled due to unplayable conditions on the course. I finished at 28th place but was five shots out of the top 10. I am looking forward to focusing on my putting and short game this summer to build more consistent scores.
