As a child I was always around golf. My dad enjoyed playing golf and my grandpa did as well. They are my two biggest motivators when it comes to golf. They both know my potential and encourage me to work at it as best I can. I never really consistently starting playing golf until my freshman year of high school. I feel as though I have drastically improved since then, not only my score but in other aspects of the game. I am not quite where I want to be in terms of my golf game so I am working to greatly improve my score, study up on the game itself, and put work into all aspects of my game.
Playing golf in and for college has always been in the back of my mind. There is something about representing your college by playing your sport that has always intrigued me and is something that I know I will enjoy. Going to college for academics is one thing, but attending college to also play the sport you love is a totally different playing field. A playing field that I would love to experience. Team workouts, bonding with the girls, motivating each other to do their absolute best, and representing your school/college by playing golf are just some of the many reasons why I have always wanted the opportunity to play in college.
I want to play women‘s golf for a college that motivates their athletes, helps them when they’re struggling, and encourages them to strive for the very best. I want to play for a college who is extremely proud of the athletes that represent their college not only on, but off the field too. I want to play for a college where all of their student athletes can come together and bond with each other, no matter what sport they play. I would be extremely lucky to be one of those few high school athletes who get the amazing opportunity to play college sports (in my case, women‘s collegiate golf). I want and would love to represent my college and sport with pride.
All in all, playing golf for a college is something that I would be extremely blessed to experience. Not only for academics or the sport itself, but I will have friends that will turn into sisters, coaches that will turn into second-parents, and experiences/memories most people don’t get the chance to have; And it will all last a lifetime.
