December 2017 Personal Statement
Aloha! I am a 5’ 2” golfer from Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii. I have started on the Kauai High School varsity team since my freshman year and earned the Kauai Interscholastic Federation All-Star Player of the Year this past season. The past two years I have contributed to winning the Kauai Interscholastic Federation All- Star Team for my high school team. In addition I have been awarded Player of the Year for the past 3 years for the Kauai Junior Golf Association. I have a 3.8 cumulative GPA; I will be taking the SAT and ACT in the spring of next year.
I am not afraid of hard work and commitment both on and off the course. After surviving the lost of my mother at the age of 13 I have learned to become a self-motivated individual. I value the importance of balancing school and golf.
My dream is to use college golf as a steppingstone to help me become an Optometrist. I am looking for a school with a low student to teacher ratio so that I can get individualized help in the field of science. Ideally, my athletic environment would be one where I could make an immediate contribution to the team. I believe my best fit would be at a Division II or NAIA level, although I will definitely consider a high academic DIII opportunity.
