I’ve been playing golf for a bit over two years now. I first started in May of 2018, and I’ve been working with my pro J. Anderson for about half that time.
My first season my sophomore year I was on varsity, but with a handicap of about 35.
My second season my junior year I was varsity four, and my handicap was 16. The biggest improvement I made between the two seasons was my short game; I improved my putting and chipping, which cut a ton of strokes off my scores.
This past summer, I played in 10 county tournaments. I won six of them—two were two-day tournaments—and I shot in the seventies both days for both of them. My handicap now is 8, which is unfortunately due to a couple very bad rounds.
I‘ve known what I wanted to do for college for a while now—I want to major in Chinese and become an interpreter, if I cannot go far enough with golf. I am passionate about my game and I‘m hoping that my hard work over this past year will pay off going into this season.
