Personal Statement

I have been playing golf since the summer of 2016.  My first round of 18 hole golf I shot a 141 and at the end of my 2017 season I shot a 106.  I am a quick learner, very coachable, and extremely determined to improve even more.

My goal has always been to play collegiate sports at a competitive university.  I was a competitive gymnast for 10 years and was trained by 1996 Gold Medalist Jaycie Phelps.  I learned the meaning of a good work ethic through extensive training, hard work, and determination.

I work 2 jobs and carry a 3.05 GPA.  I am involved in school clubs and I do cross fit 3 days a week.  I am very dedicated to the game of golf and think that I would make a great addition to your team.

I want to further my education at a university that best fits my needs so I can receive a degree in exercise science/kinesiology or dietetics.  I want a degree in this field because I want to help people to live a good and healthy life style.

  • It is with great pleasure that I recommend Morgan Hear to be a part of a college golf program. Morgan would be a valuable asset to your program. I have been working with Morgan since fall of 2016 and she always shows up full of energy and excitement to improve her young game. Morgan is enthusiastic to learn and play better golf. Her past gymnastic 'career' has made her strong and an enviable work ethic has carried over into her golf. In her short golf career, she has made great improvement. Morgan is positive, encouraging to others and genuinely wants to play golf every day. Morgan is petite, yet strong, and has the ability to excellently turn her hips through her one-plane swing. However, she sometimes cannot swing her arms fast enough to keep up. We are working on getting her arms to impact faster and better club positioning throughout the swing. She is new to golf, so she is like a 'sponge' as she learns better course management and adds more shots to her repertoire. I hope you feel Morgan is a good fit for your program. I feel very confident that she will make the same efforts I have seen over the past year and make you very proud to have her as a part of your team. Please feel free to contact me for any additional information. I will be more than happy to discuss Morgan, her game and her potential. Sincerely, Erika Wicoff, LPGA Lead Instructor, Golf School of Indiana (530)401-0068
