Personal Statement

Hi! My name is Josie Kelley and I’m a 2026 graduate at Noblesville High School, just outside of Indianapolis, Indiana.  I am very motivated and dedicated to continuing my golf career to play collegiately.  Doing so I want to find a school that I love, a program where I’m a good fit and teammates/coaches I enjoy.  I would really like the opportunity and the challenge to see how good I can get.  I am looking for a school, a coach and a program where I can find my ceiling.   I would like to compete for team championships and be in position to contribute.  I believe I would be a great fit for any team as I am a great teammate. I enjoy the team aspect of golf, and working with others towards a common goal of competing and winning.  I have a good attitude both on and off the course.

As a student I have a 3.7 GPA. Outside of school and golf I enjoy spending time with my different friend groups, working out and going to my school’s football and basketball games. My favorite hobbies are baking, reading, and photography. I would really like to have a job in Sports Media and Digital Content Creation working for a sports production company, marketing company or a major sports league or team. Working for the PGA Tour or LPGA Tour would be an ultimate goal of mine.  I’m very open to any university in any location.

I have just concluded my Junior year of High School golf this fall.  My High School team was pre-season ranked #1 in the State.  As the number one player on our team, I felt great responsibility and privilege in leading our team on and off the course.  During the past Spring and Summer, I led our team in off-season workouts, simulator sessions and checked in on our tournament scheduling.  I take a lot of pride in our team being close-knit and great friends.  We had some great accomplishments during the season winning several invitationals.  As a team we won both Regionals and Sectionals.  I was medalist at both events with a 74 and a 68.  At the State Finals, our team led after day one but fell short on day two and finished runner-up.  I ended up placing 6th individually with rounds of 75-75 on a tough State Finals set-up.  I was named All-State for the second year in-a-row.  I love competing as an individual ten months out of the year, but the two months of the year when I play team golf is by far my favorite.  I can’t wait to run it back one more time my Senior year.

For the calendar year of 2024, my scoring average was right at 74.  Each of the past three years I have lowered my stroke average by roughly 2+ shots and I fully expect to continue this trend into college.  I am steadily getting better and gaining confidence and still have a bunch of room for improvement.  My biggest areas of focus for the next 6 months will be strength and speed, short game improvement and converting more from 40 – 80 yards.  I plan to head South several times over the winter to compete and practice.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
